A Compressed Earthen Block (CEB), like an adobe, is made from a mixture of soil and aggregate with no chemical additives.

A machine-made, hydraulically-pressed CEB, however, has several advantages over a traditional adobe. A Compressed Earthen Block:
 
•  is stronger.
•  is made quickly and easily on-site.
•  does not require a mortar to lay.
•  does not have a "set" or "cure" time.
•  may be placed directly in the wall.
