Established as a Spanish land grant in 1820, this historic ranch once extended over 100,000 acres. A working ranch from 1876 until 1951, ranch lands still provide important wildlife habitat. The assemblage of ranch buildings, long vacant, is falling into disrepair. Encroachment from Tucson, just to the north, further endangers the property. Crocker & Associates performed a structural assessment and stabilization plan for the ranch buildings, including a plan for the seismic retrofitting of some structures. We also performed a materials analysis and designed mud/lime mortar and plaster mixes compatible with the original materials.
